About EatCritique

Well here is where the food adventure begins as our small group of culinary connoisseurs discover and critique a different restaurant in and around Melbourne each month. We will be keeping records of our impressions here on this blog and will also have photos and video to add. Our critique is a score out of 10 which covers quality and taste of food, service and value for money. Each category gets a rating out of 10 then a mean score is generated from the 3 ratings. The generated mean scores from the group are then added and averaged to give an overall rating for that particular restaurant. Of course one should also take into account the written critiques about dishes, experiences, ambience etc. All these are also very important to take into account individually – sometimes food can be exceptional but the service awful. I myself often go back to such a restaurant because the food is so good and so I tolerate the crap service…but I am prepared. It’s a matter of knowing what to expect and so that way you can’t be disappointed.

The members of the Eat Critique Club are:

Beck “almost an official wine snob (there is hope for her yet) and just darn over-exuberant about food” O’Brien

Susan “I preferred mine stirred not mashed” Townsend

Tashik “knock it’s horns off, wipe it’s bum and stick it on my plate” Strickland

Chloe “I never met a chocolate mousse I didn’t like” Strickland

Jeremy “it’s not sauce it’s ketchup” Arnold

Svett “is that a demi-glace in your pot or are you just excited to see me” Bykovec

We are not aiming to discredit any restaurants but give our own personal evaluation as our own personal guide to where to eat in Melbourne. We have come together as lovers of good food and wine and have taken this culinary responsibility on our shoulders. People may disagree with our verdict but we are a bunch from varied backgrounds of culinary experience and I feel we give a pretty rounded judgement….and we also have some fun too.

So Bon Appetite fellow foodies!
